Investors trade 346.59 million shares for Q3 2013

The Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, has disclosed that the average daily volume of shares traded by investors across all products for the third quarter of 2013 was 346.59 million units.

Information gathered from the Q3 2013 fact sheet released by the Nigerian bourse indicated that while the average daily valued traded for the period stood at N3.13 billion, the average PE ratio of the exchange’s listed equities was 22.84x.
The fact sheet further revealed that the total market capitalisation as at Q3 2013 was N17.72 trillion while the bonds market capitalisation for the period stood at N6.07 trillion.

The report further indicated that equities market capitalisation as at Q3 2013 was N11.66 trillion while the equity turnover velocity was 5.57 percent.

The number of listed companies as at Q3 2013 was put at 189, number of listed equities for the period was 197 while 57 bonds was also said to have been listed for the period.

Furthermore, the fact sheet also revealed that as at Q3 2013, there were 5 listed investment funds and 255 listed securities.

Further analysis of the report showed that the Foreign Portfolio Investment(FPI) as at Q3 2013 was N801.25 billion representing 50.81 percent of the total market flows.
