NSE ASI dips by 0.9% on Wednesday

The bullish trend at the stock market since the beginning of the week was halted at the end of transactions on Wednesday as the NSE All Share Index, ASI, dipped by 344.48 points or 0.9 percent to close lower at 37,949.11 basis points when compared with yesterday’s closing figure of 38,293.59 basis points.

The market capitalisation of entities on the main board equally dropped to N12.124 trillion losing by N110 billion or 0.9 percent from Tuesday’s closing figure of N12.234 trillion.

At the close of transactions on Wednesday, 291.73 million shares valued at N3.33 billion were traded by investors in 4,695 deals as against the 357.46 million shares worth N3.26 billion that was traded in 5,054 deals on Tuesday.

Transcorp led the top five trades by volume chart with 62.36 million shares worth N185.93 million while Zenith bank was second with 45.87 million shares worth N976.59 million.

It was followed by ETI with 27.97 million shares valued at N390.15 million.

WAPIC was fourth with 23.97 million shares worth N20.49 million while Unity bank was last on the chart with 14.83 million shares worth N7.76 million.

The top gainers chart on Wednesday was led by Conoil with a gain of N6.40k in its share price to close at N68.95k per share.

CAP Plc was second gaining N2.45k in its share price to close at N51.65k per share while WAPCO was third with an addition of N1.00 to its share price to close at N104.00 per share.

It was followed by MRS with a share price gain of N0.46k to close at N43.21k per share while Transcorp was last on the chart appreciating by N0.27k in its share price to close at N3.00 per share.

However, Nestle Plc led the losers chart with a loss of N45.00 in its share price to close at N1,160.00 per share.

Nigerian Breweries was second losing N5.00 in its share price to close at N173.00 per share while Guinness was third shedding N2.89k in its share price to close at N235.11k per share.

It was followed by Dangote Cement with a share price loss of N1.75k to close at N188.25k per share while UACN was last on the chart losing N1.60k in its share price to close at N64.00 per share.
