Market cap loses N81 billion on Friday

The last trading day at the stock market ended on a bearish note as the market capitalisation of entities on the main board closed lower at N12.100 trillion losing by N81 billion or 0.67 percent when compared with Thursday’s closing figure of N12.181 trillion.

The NSE All Share Index, ASI, equally dipped by 255.04 points or 0.67 percent to close at 37,870.87 basis points as against Thursday’s closing figure of 38,125.91 basis points.

The top five trades by volume chart on Friday was led by Transcorp with 98.61 million shares worth N221.38 million.

It was followed by Zenith Bank with 26.44 million shares worth N563.46 million while Dangote Cement was third with 20.19 million shares worth N3.74 billion.

GTB was fourth with 17.98 million shares valued at N467.73 million while Unity Bank was last on the chart with 14.83 million shares worth N7.69 million.

Forte Oil led the gainers chart on Friday appreciating by N9.74k in its share price to close at N104.90k per share.

Cadbury followed with a share price gain of N0.81k to close at N59.81k per share while Mobil was third with a gain of N0.50k in its share price to close at N115.50k per share.

NAHCO was fourth gaining N0.28k in its share price to close at N6.28k per share while CCNN was last on the chart with a gain of N0.24k in its share price to close at N9.80k per share.

The top five losers chart on Friday was led by Nestle which shed N5.00 in its share price to close at N1,220.00 per share.

Guinness was second losing N4.95k in its share price to close at N238.55k per share while Dangote Cement was third with a loss of N2.51k in its share price to close at N185.00 per share.

Nigerian Breweries in fourth position lost N2.40k in its share price to close at N175.50k per share.

Unilever was last on the chart with a share price loss of N1.00 to close at N59.00 per share

In all, investors exchanged 282.75 million shares worth N6.19 billion in 4,498 deals as against the 511.20 million shares valued at N5.65 billion that was traded on Thursday in 5,127 deals.
