Investors trade 254.64 million shares on Monday

SEC Board ControversyTransactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, ended on Monday with investors trading 254.64 million shares worth N3.40 billion in 4,593 deals.

This was in contrast to the 226.69 million shares valued at N3.07 billion that exchanged hands in 4,111 deals last Friday.

The NSE All Share Index, ASI, closed higher at 37,937.61 basis points gaining by 171.79 points or 0.45 percent when compared with Last Friday’s closing figure of 37,765.82 basis points.

The market capitalisation of the listed entities equally appreciated by N55 billion or 0.45 percent to close on Monday at N12.121 trillion as against Last Friday’s closing figure of N12.066 trillion.

Transcorp led the top five trades by volume chart with 43.81 million shares worth N84.42 million while Zenith Bank was second with 29.86 million shares worth N636.86 million.

It was followed by GTB with 24.06 million shares valued at N627.66 million.
UBA was fourth with 21.42 million shares worth N174.55 million while Unity Bank was last on the chart with 15.79 million shares valued at N8.09 million.

The top five gainers chart on Monday was led by Nestle with a gain of N56.43k in its share price to close at N1,185.19k per share.

Forte Oil was second gaining N7.27k in its share price to close at N78.30k per share while MRS in third spot added N3.80k to its share price to close at N41.79k per share.

It was followed by UAC Property with a share price gain of N0.81k to close at N18.90k per share while PZ was last on the chart with a gain of N0.63k in its share price to close at N38.25k per share

However, the top five losers chart was led by Guinness with a loss of N6.03k in its share price to close at N240.50k per share.

It was followed by Okomu Oil with a share price loss of N1.00 to close at N43.00 per share while Flour mill was third losing N0.90k in its share price to close at N84.10k per share.

UACN was fourth with a loss of N0.44k in its share price to close at N65.56k per share while Nigerian Breweries was last on the chart losing N0.40k in its share price to close at N175.20k per share.
