Investors trade 569.49 million shares on Wednesday

Transactions on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, ended on Wednesday with investors trading 569.49 million shares worth N3.54 billion in 5,039 deals.

This was in contrast to the 294.42 million shares valued at N3.21 billion that was traded in 5,151 deals on Tuesday.

The market capitalisation of the listed entities closed lower at N11.941 trillion losing by N45 billion or 0.38 percent when compared with Wednesday’s closing figure of N11.986 trillion.

The All Share Index, ASI, equally dipped by 141.46 points or 0.38 percent to close on Wednesday at 37,373.09 basis points as against Tuesday’s closing figure of 37,514.55 basis points.

Equity Assurance led the top five trades by volume chart with 268.99 million §hares worth N134.49 million while Access Bank was second with 29.99 million shares valued at N280.59 million.

It was followed by ETI with 28.05 million shares worth N387.15 million.

GTB was fourth with 24.69 million shares valued at N623.54 million while WAPIC was last on the chart with 22.53 million volume of shares worth N19.59 million.

The top five gainers chart was led by MRS which gained N2.73k in its share price to close at N39.98k per share.

Cadbury was second with a share price gain of N2.70k to close at N56.50k per share while Presco was third with a gain of N0.50k in its share price to close at N35.00 per share.

Nigerian Breweries was in fourth position with an addition of N0.49k to its share price to close at N173.99k per share.

UAC Property was last on the chart with a gain of N0.28k in its share price to close at N18.78k per share.

However, WAPCO topped the losers chart with a loss of N3.30k in its share price to close at N102.00 per share.

Julius Berger was second with a share price loss of N2.00 to close at N75.00 per share while PZ was third with a loss of N1.38k in its share price to close at N37.62k per share.

Unilever was in fourth position losing N0.98k in its share price to close at N59.02k per share.

Stanbic was last on the chart with a loss of N0.45k in its share price to close at N19.50k per share.
