Stock Market Watch: ASI inches up by 0.56% on Thursday
The bullish trend continued at the stock market on resumption from the two days Sallah break as the All Share Index, ASI, inched up by 206.21 points or 0.56 percent to close on Thursday at 37,257.35 basis points higher than Monday’s closing figure of 37,051 basis points.
In the same vein, the market capitalisation of equities on the main board appreciated by N66 billion or 0.56 percent to close Thursday at N11.870 trillion as against the N11.804 trillion closing figure of Monday.
Access Bank led the top five trades by volume chart with 36.84 million volume of shares valued at N384.47 million.
It was followed by GTB with 33.28 million shares worth N847.36 million.
Transcorp was third with 31.94 million shares valued at N53.03 million.
WAPIC was fourth with 20.42 million shares valued at N17.79 million while Zenith Bank was last on the chart with 18.09 million shares worth N389.83 million.
The top five gainers chart was led by Total which share price appreciated by N6.50k to close at N164.00 per share.
Forte Oil was in second position with a share price gain of N5.41k to close at N58.33k per share while Guinness followed with a gain of N3.45k in its share price to close at N250.00 per share.
Conoil was fourth with its share price inching up by N1.51k to close at N31.75k while Cadbury was last on the chart gaining N1.09k in its share price to close at N55.00 per share.
However, the top five losers chart was led by Ashaka Cement with a loss of N1.00 in its share price to close at N22.00 per share.
Okomu Oil followed with a loss of N0.55k in its share price to close at N44.95k per share while Zenith Bank in third position dipped by N0.21k in its share price to close at N21.63k per share.
UPL was in fourth position losing N0.15k in its share price to close at N3.85k per share while IHS was last with a loss of N0.14k in its share price to close at N2.66k per share.
At the close of Thursday’s transactions, investors traded 284.09 million shares valued at N3.89 billion in 4,950 deals as against the 264.38 million shares worth N2.96 billion that was exchanged in 4,189 transactions on Monday.
