Committee on disbursement of relief fund begins assignment in Bauchi State

7f3915a8cfcb8a7a60f5273396f420c5The committee set up to disburse the 1.8 billion relief fund to victims of the 2011 post presidential election violence in Bauchi State began its assignment on Thursday in Bauchi.

Alhaji Sagir Aminu, the state Deputy Gov., and chairman of the committee, said at the inaugural meeting that it had two weeks to complete the work.

Aminu said the main assignment was to distribute the amount released to Bauchi State Government by the Federal Government, to give succour to the victims of the violence.

“The task before us is not an easy one.

“Although the task is onerous, it is not insurmountable. All we need to do to execute that assignment successfully is to bring into play our wealth of knowledge, experience and work as a team.

“There is also the need for us to sacrifice our time and energy to not only finish the assignment within or before the two weeks given to us, but also do a thorough job, “ he said.

The chairman said that members of the committee had representatives from the federal, state governments and Bauchi state traditional council.

He appealed to the members for dedication, commitment and sacrifice, noting that the opportunity to serve in the committee was a manifestation of the confidence reposed in them by the federal and Bauchi state governments.

He assured the governments at all levels and the people of the state that the committee would abide by the terms of reference.

The chairman called for the release of documents needed for the assignment while the authentic beneficiaries should be contacted to ensure a hitch-free exercise. (NAN)
