Stock Market Watch: Indices gain 0.41%
Transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, on Wednesday ended on a positive note when compared with the previous day as the All Share-Index, ALSI, appreciated by 146.53 points or 0.41 percent to close at 36,259.65 points from the 36,113.12 points recorded on Tuesday.
Similarly, the market capitalisation equally gained N47 billion or 0.41 percent as it closed at N11.545 trillion as against the Tuesday’s closing figure of N11.498 trillion.
Nestle Nig. Plc topped the gainers chart gaining N8.99k to close at N938.99k per share, while Nigerian Breweries came second with a gain of N3.00 to close at N165.00 per share.
Guinness share price appreciated by N2.49k to close at N247.50k.
Others on the chart are Champion Breweries, which gained N0.66k to close at N15.99 per share and Jos Breweries which share price appreciated by N0.56k to close at N6.22k.
On the losers end, Unilever came first with a loss of N3.00 to close at N56.00 per share, UBA was second with a drop of N0.20k in its share price to close at N7.10k while Custodian Insurance was third with a loss of N0.14k to close at N1.30k per share.
Others on the chart are Neimeth Pharmaceuticals which dropped N0.11k in its share price to close at N1.03k and NASCON which lost N0.10k in its share price to close at N11.60k.
The top five trades by volume on Wednesday was led by UBA with 21,874,644 volumes of shares at N155.80 million. This was followed by Transcorp with 17,285,556 volumes at N23.65 million and Zenith bank which share volume was 14,811,222 at N288.17 million.
The last two are Fidelity bank with 14,690,173 volumes of shares at N37.79 million and Skye bank with 13,871,602 volumes at N58.32 million.
In all, investors exchanged 188.46 million shares worth N2.5 billion in 5,062 deals.
This was in contrast to the 196.43 million shares valued at N1.6 billion that was exchanged in 4,897 deals the previous day.
