Vessels, tankers’ e-tracking helps to check wastages, says IPMAN

The electronic tracking of fuel tankers and oil vessels has saved the Federal Government billions of Naira and conserved hard earned Nigeria Foreign Exchange, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said on Wednesday.

National Secretary of the association, Mike Osatuyi who sapoke after the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of IPMAN in Lagos, said the e-tracking has particularly made round tripping and diversion of petroleum product impossible.

“This move is a good innovation to ensure accountability, probity and conserving hard earned Nigeria Foreign Exchange,” he said as he commended the leadership of the petroleum industry for this feat.

While condemning activities of the pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves, Osatuyi called on Nigerians to rally round the minister of Petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke to curb “this great challenge for optical output from our refineries.”

The National Executive Committee sought the fullest cooperation of Nigerians to bring to a halt the activities of the pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves.

“Despite the challenge of pipeline vandals and oil thieves, Nigeria crude oil production has stabilised to between 2 to 2.4 million barrels per day under Minister of Petroleum Resources Mrs Alison Madueke.”

He said the Minister has already superintended the signing of a gas supply and purchase agreement (GSPA) between key industry operators and the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) for the supply of gas as an incentive to guarantee adequate supply of electricity in the country.

“Nigerian Content Act is another achievement epitomising the depth of the Minister’s patriotism, considering that the maximum of four years period set for all international oil and gas operators to Nigerianise all expatriate positions would create opportunities for indigenous participation in the development of the nation’s oil and gas industry.

The association commended what it called the unprecedented stability and growth in the petroleum sector since the current leadership in the petroleum ministry took on the mantle by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.”
