FG designates Med-View airlines on six Int’l destinations

Nigerians doing business in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates capital, will soon have opportunity to fly directly to the city, as the Federal Government has designated Med-View Airlines, one of Nigeria’s domestic carriers to Dubai and other five international routes.

The Managing Director of Med View Airlines, Munir Bankole, disclosed this while speaking on the airline’s plan to operate international destinations, shortly after conducting journalists round the Boeing 737-500 series at the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos.

Munir stated that Med-View airlines, specializing also in airlifting pilgrims to the holy land, currently has four aircrafts in its fleet, adding that before the end of the year one additional aircraft will be added to the fleet.

He said that already the airline has been give licence to commence international operations.

“As at today, we have in Med-View four aircrafts, you have seen them flying as you are talking to me one landed, one is enroute from Yola so we have another one coming which is in the facilities that is our own aircraft and by the grace of God before the end of the year additional regional aircraft will join in our international operations.

He continued, “We have been designated to six international stations. We have been given Accra 14 frequencies ,which we are going to commence very soon, we have been given Dakar, we have Libreville, as well as Jeddah ,which we are commencing from Lagos enroute Abuja to Jeddah and also from Kano to Jeddah, four frequencies. Dubai, by the grace of God in December Nigerians will smile, direct flight to Dubai this is our route and we have Singapore as a network on this same designation, As I am talking to you we have just been issued our permit; our international permit and we are the first airline to be given that permit by the current director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which is a new designation for an airline of this nature to go outside this country.”

Med-View airline, he said, has been a pride to Nigeria following its rapid growth within a very short time, adding that sometimes in January, the airline promised that would bring in between six to eight airplanes.

He said that he is happy that the B737-500 series that the airline took delivery of is one of the airplanes, maintaining that before the year runs out, a bigger aircraft will join the fleet.

According to him, “It has been a pride to this company and for Nigeria today to see a domestic airline within a short space of time growing as you have seen. We are proud to tell you that, when we spoke to you in January and we promised you that in another six to eight months we will give you two more aircraft, this is one of them; acquired by Med-View.”

“It is an aircraft that we purchase, we call it lease purchase and we have 737-800 coming in very soon. These are the two aircraft to add to this fleet and before the end of the year a bigger aircraft will come in to join up to be doing the international and regional operation which you are aware this company has been designated by the Federal Government,” he said.
