Senate hearing on petition against transfer of oil blocks fails to hold

By on May 3, 2013

The hearing on a petition against the alleged transfer of four oil blocs reportedly valued at N58.9 trillion to a private company scheduled to hold in the Senate Thursday, failed to hold.

The scheduled hearing was on a petition by four Delta State communities against the alleged covert transfer of production rights in four oil blocs OML 26. 30, 34 and 42 to a private company, Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited.

The hearing to have held under the aegis of the Senate Committee on Petroleum, Upstream, however, failed to hold, following the absence of the petitioners.

The petitioners in a letter to the Senator Paulker Emmanuel-led Committee on Petroleum, Upstream said yesterday was not convenient for them given what they said were engagements earlier fixed.
