MRS depot in Apapa now operational
MRS Oil and Gas on Tuesday said that its depot at Tin-Can in Lagos had resumed operations in compliance with the directive of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). Enoch Kanawa, The Executive Director, Government Policy and External Affairs, said in Lagos that the depot was now in full operation after the explosion of January 16.
“It is inappropriate to peddle the news that the DPR has totally shut down the depot as it is being insinuated. We are currently working and dispensing products to trucks as we speak, “ he said.
Kanawa said that MRS had complied with the specifications of DPR which allowed the depot to begin normal business of dispensing petroleum products from Wednesday, January 30. “We have carried out the Integrity Test to ascertain the level of damage caused by the January 16 explosion.
“We found that our depot was not affected. The depot can resume normal activity without fear. We have resumed loading of products since last week and we have increased our safety measures to avoid any future catastrophe,“ he said.
