Fayemi is starving local government of funds – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has blamed the inability of local governments in the state to complete their five-kilometre road projects on what is said was “the stifling of the local governments of funds by Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration.”
According to Ekiti PDP, which spoke at a media parley in Ado Ekiti addressed by its Director of Media and Communication, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan, what was manifesting in the execution of the five-kilometre road projects at the third tier was the result of starving of the councils of funds, saying the projects appeared to have been abandoned.
Aribisogan claimed that the five kilometre roads would have been completed, “but for the fact that the state government has successful arm-twisted the caretaker chairmen for its own selfish motive in the execution of the projects.”
Reacting to the allegation, however, Governor Fayemi, who spoke through his Press Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, described the allegation as a lie, saying “the PDP is fond of spreading falsehood and distorting facts.”
According to Oyebode, “the reason for the delay is the contractors who have issues of logistics to contend with,” pointing out that “for instance in Ekiti West Local Government Area, the roads are spread across locations in Erijiyan, Ido Ile, Aramoko and others and the contractor has to move from one location to another.”
