Borno State Government signs MOU worth over N230 million with Indian firms

The Borno state Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two Indian firms ILand FS company and Bala Industries Private Limited in the areas of Education and Agricultural transformation.

who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Amb. Baba Ahmed Jidda yesterday said “ I am happy that we are going into partnership with you; IL&FS Education and Technology Service LTD for the sole purpose of advancing education in Borno state through innovative and integrated learning solution and Bala Industries Private LTD for the purpose of poultry equipment supply for incubators, hatchery and brooding Battery cages”

He said seven Indian companies made presentation in the areas of Agriculture, Education, and Solar Technology, adding that at that presentation the state government delegation to India had a wide consultation with officials from the Nigerian High Commission, led by its commissioner and some technical expert from the Federal ministry of environment.

Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, the facilitator of the Indian Firms in Nigeria , Mr. Rajan Menon of the Simba Group of Companies said that the partnership will help in transforming the education and the agricultural sector in the state.

On security challenges confronting the state, Mr. Rajan said that it was not only peculiar to Borno state, but in all other parts of the world and that it can not stop government from providing developmental needs to its citizens.

The chairman of the Agriculture transformation team, Engineer Ibrahim Ali said the purpose of signing the MOU is to boost agricultural production especially in the area of Poultry farming where a day old chicks will be produced and distributed to rural farmers to enhance their financial status and also meet the protein needs of the people.

He stated that the government is going to consider the provision of one egg per student in the school feeding system across the state, adding that the administration of Governor Kashim Shettima was committed to total agricultural transformation in the state.

In the area of education, the state commissioner of education Hon. Musa Inuwa Kubo said that in this age of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) schools in Borno cannot be left out, that is why the state government has committed huge resources in importing ICT equipment worth $1 million to be distributed to schools across the state.

He further stated that the state government was poised to over haul the education sector, as Borno state is one of the disadvantage state in the area of education, stressing that the state government had committed huge resources in the renovation of schools, procurement of text books and other instructional materials.
