FG has a budget for fuel subsidy in 2013, no fuel price increment – NNPC

The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) yesterday said there would be no increment in petrol price next year.

In the face of the present artificial scarcity created by the oil marketers, NNPC urged Nigerians to remain calm that the Federal Government had made budget for subsidy come 2013.

NNPC spokesperson, Fidel Pepple, while speaking to reporters in Abuja yesterday said the Ije-ododo vandalised pipeline in Ojo Local Government of Lagos State as well as the System 2B pipeline, which was vandalised at Arepo in Ogun State, have been fixed.

He said with both pipelines fixed, there will be no artificial price hike, no fuel scarcity, and no queues at filling stations.

Pepple said NNPC has enough PMS to distribute and the impact would soon be felt.

He said, “I can affirm to you that our engineers from the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company Limited (PPMC) have finally fixed the Ije-Ododo pipeline that was ruptured last Monday by activities of pipeline vandals. Going forward, the good news for Nigerians is that we have resumed pumping of petroleum products through the pipeline and System 2b is equally working after the restoration of the pipeline.”

He said reporters speculating in the media that fuel scarcity and queues in some parts of the country may last past the New Year would be disappointed; saying NNPC still stands its ground against fuel scarcity and queues.

He however, blamed the recent fuel scarcity and queues at filling stations on the activities of vandals.
