Governor Fashola gives out transformers worth N975m through lawmakers for Constituencies

In a bid to boost electricity generation and distribution in Lagos state, the Lagos State Government has dished out 140 transformers.

The transformers cost the government a fortune of N975m. Among the beneficiaries were members of the State House of Assembly, Ministries, Agencies, and Parastatals.

This development was confirmed and made public during an event that marked the presentation in Badagry. The event was graced by top government functionaries, amongst whom was Commissioner for Rural Development, Cornelius Ojelabi.

Ojelabi said Governor Fashola was only doing his part just to fulfill his promises to the people while trying to make their lives better.

Ojelabi said, “Procuring the transformers and installing them cost the government N975m. While 132 of the transformers go to the 40 members of the Assembly for their constituencies, the remaining eight transformers are for government’s ministries to boost power generation.”

Ojelabi disclosed that the Governor gave 132 transformers to lawmakers for their constituencies, stating that the lawmakers sent in special requests for the transformers.

The commissioner said, “We are handing the transformers over to the lawmakers so that they can ensure that the communities maintain them very well.”

To the lawmakers, Ojelabi begged them to ensure that their community Development Associations pay their annual dues as a bid to show appreciation and encourage the Fashola led administration to do more.

The speaker of the House, Adeyemi Ikuforiji who was represented by the Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development, Ibrahim Layode, thanked the Governor for his efforts and registered their support for his administration, saying, they were solidly behind him.
