“Nigerians will enjoy stable power,” TCN assures

The Transmission Company of Nigeria(TCN) has assured Nigeria of improved service delivery in power transmission, distribution and delivery.

Considering the importance of the power sector towards unlocking Nigeria’s Industrial, Innovative and Infrastructural development prospects,the company has been working tirelessly, to see that a remarkable progress is recorded in the sector.

The TCN Executive Director of System Operations of the company, Mr Jonathan Ndiagwaralukwe made this statement recently in Abuja.

He said this during the Yuletide season, affirming that there will be steady power supply for citizens as they relax and share moments with their family members.

On the issue of Infrastructure and structures put in place to reform the sector, Mr Ndiagwaralukwe said the company had carried out the purchase and installation of new electricity transformers of high quality to boost power supply in the country.

Stating further, he said that significant steps have been taken in the overhauling of the power sector, even as private core investors who have become major players in the process of distribution and supply of electricity are making effort towards the realisation of the Federal government’s dream of a stable power supply .

He Said “As regards steady gas supply to our thermal stations, which has remained a thorny issue; there is an improvement. Power stations are now getting gas and new NIPPs are coming on-stream.”

The National Integrated Power Projects which was initiated in the Obasanjo administration was designed by the Federal Government to partner with Independent Power Projects in States like Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa,and Lagos to boost the transmission and supply of electricity in the country.

One of the issues identified as a major challenge facing the smooth transmission of electricity in the country, is the vandalisation of electric poles and wire, equipment and gadgets. The TCN urged more steps to be taken in tackling the menace.

With the assurance and renewed commitment of the Transmission Company of Nigeria that power supply will improve during and after the Christmas holiday, Nigerians will heave a sigh of relief if the promises come through.
