Benue governor, Suswam presents N130bn budget to State Assembly

Benue State Governor Gabriel Suswam, Tuesday presented the 2013 budget proposal of N130 billion to the Benue State House of Assembly, tagged “Budget of Development and Growth Effectiveness.”

The Governor said his administration has shown exemplary leadership and responsibility on the cause of improving the lives of Benue indigenes .

Suswam said that the 2013 budget would focus on the development of agriculture, works and infrastructure in order to attract foreign investors and ensure the creation of wealth and job opportunities to the youth.

He said, “This budget is to lay a solid foundation for capital development and it will also emphasize the welfare of the citizens, to provide adequate food and security to all. This budget will help the state government to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the teeming population.”

He added that there are challenging factors such as: heavy workforce, medical school, new recruitment of health management workers and payment of staff salaries, but disclosed that the budget has proposed the sum of N2.43 billion as monthly wage bill which will comprise PAYE.
He added that about N102 billion will be generated from fines and fees in the state.
