SMEs in Africa receive boost from Microsoft

Technology  giant Microsoft have once again shown their  commitment to driving entrepreneurship in Africa as it recently launched a new tool designed specially for the growth and rapid development of small and medium enterprises on the continent.

Entrepreneurship Business development in Africa at the Micro and the Small Medium Enterprise level has gone through various levels of challenges in the area of networking, strategic partnership and empowerment programmes.

The Programme which is titled ‘Keep Your Business moving’ is designed in four different languages English, French, Arabic and Turkish. It is to help budding entrepreneurs and also  advise Small Medium business owners on how to improve their entity.

General Manager  West, East, Central Africa and Indian Ocean Islands, Hennie Loubsersaid “Studies indicate that SMEs in the Middle East and Africa are boosting regional GDP – in Sub-Saharan Africa”.

He believed “With this exclusive programme, we reinforce our commitment to equip small and medium businesses with the best of intellectual capital, ICT solutions, tools, resources and best practices to maximise their return on ICT investments. We will use the programme to share white papers, case studies, free tools and products, stay in touch with the SMB community and guide them to keep their business moving.”

Knowing that the Small Medium Enterprise Industry accounts for 50% employment in the Continent, the Microsoft Regional Head believed it was a strategic step to assist and encourage the small businesses which are the key to the success of an economy.

He also believed that technology is also  the pathway that can galvanize and enable small businesses to grow and thrive in difficult terrains and severe economic conditions, and will be remarkable if the programme is explored effectively.

With the introduction of this programme, Microsoft has once again shown its genuine interest in assisting in the development of Africa’s business model, especially those of the Small Medium Enterprises.
