Creative Industry the Next Key Hub for the Nigerian Economy

The Creative Industry has been described as the next sector that will drive the Nigerian economy. This was a compilation of presentations made by players and practitioners in the fast growing industry. Mr Obi Asika the CEO of Storm 360 said the Nigerian music industry, which can be structured in a way to boost the  economy through the incorporation and  collaboration from label record companies which can  create employment for the youth.
He said that the Creative Industry needs to have a definite roadmap and plan to ensure that its efforts are coordinated and therefore courts more foreign investments and partnerships that will help to develop and grow the Nigerian Economy.
The Director General of the Creative Entepreneurs Association of Nigeria Mr Wale Ewedemi said the Group has witnessed remarkable optimism from Nigerians to pull through their challenges and become change aganets for the country, thereby also bringing market value for the economy.
He said the association has been involved in Programmes and Sessions inspired by the First session of the British Council sponsored Nigerian Creative Economy expo Summit and said so far about 8 Nigerians have either gone abroad or gotten funding for their innovative projects which has been a great boost to the group.
Ms Omoyemi Akerele the CEO of the Lagos Fashion Style house said the Fashion designing industry in Nigeria has received a new posture with young energetic people gaining from trainings and empowerment programmes to become unique fashion designers of the future. One of them Josh Samuel who won the Lagos Fashion Fashion/MTN 2012 competition sais he was inspired to build a brand of designs like Versace and the rest.
Mr Femi Longe the Director of the Co Creation Hub said the mission of the Group has been unprecedented as it has inspired tech savvy talented Nigerians to utilize their potentials through a well equipped complex with state of the art facilities to solve problems in the country.
Part of the testimonies of the CCHub was the “Village” app developed by LD technologies to solve the challenges of social media retention on the web, Fodomedia site designed to aid producers in their auditioning of Movie actors and the LesPas online platform designed to aid people with fashion purchases and enquiries.
Mr Charles Igwe of the Bob Tv said “The time has come for Nigerians to believe in themselves and create solutions that are Nigerian, we must give up the mentality of being like the West because if Nollywood did that, it would have lost its value”.
