President Jonathan seeks additional intra-African Trade

In a bid to strengthen the relationships and promote the welfare of the citizenry, President Goodluck Jonathan has called for increased trade and investment among African countries.

 

President Jonathan made this pronouncement when he received the out-going High Commissioner of Botswana to Nigeria yesterday, Clifford S. Maribe. He called on African Businessmen to improve economic and political relations in Africa and take advantage of the business opportunities that abound in the continent.

 

He lauded the report that the business forum held in Gaborone, Botswana during his visit last month had started yielding results, as exploratory business visits between Nigerian and Botswana executives have started.

The high commissioner reported that the business forum held in Gaborone, Botswana, when Jonathan visited last month is yielding positive results.

He added that his stay in Nigeria among other things has led to stronger relations between the two countries, including high-level visits by the leaders of both countries, he thanked the president and people of Nigeria for the cooperation and results he has received during his stay.

 

In addition, Jonathan said the warm political relations between the two countries should be strengthened through more high-level visits.

 

Jonathan congratulated Kenya’s representative, Mr Sigel for finishing the building of country’s Chancery and staff housing, which he called a mark of confidence in Nigeria.

 

The President stressed the need to improve economic relations between Nigeria and Kenya.
