Auditor-General to Spend N180 million on Cars

The Auditor General’s office has requested for N180 million to acquire a Toyota Camry and 18 Toyota Hilux vans.

 

The breakdown of the 2013 budget have shown that the Auditor General of the Federation (AGF) will spend a huge sum of N13.16 million for the acquisition of canteen and kitchen equipment.

 

A new Toyota Hilux costs about N4, 320,000 and the AGF has requested for 18, which means N77, 760,000. The AGF essentially requested for N180 million to acquire 1 Toyota Camry and 18 Toyota Hilux vans.

 

The AGF also requested for N5.3 million to buy 50 fire extinguishers at N106, 000 each, also 10 explosive detectors at the cost of N7 million and N23 million on monitoring and evaluation of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) projects.

 

Last year the AGF requested for N15 million, for the construction and equipping of staff canteen but this year’s demand seem to double that of previous year.

In addition, the AGF’s plan is to construct new office buildings for N86.4 million and N77.57 million for the rehabilitation and repairs of office buildings.
