Privatization Council to Take Decision on DISCO bidders Today
The National Council on Privatization is expected to shortlist the 54 companies bidding for the 11 power distribution companies in Nigeria.
Some of the companies that are involved in the bid process include Honeywell Energy, Oando, Rockson Engineering, Vigeo Power, Pacific Energy, African Corporation AFC & CESC Consortium; Masters Energy Oil & Gas Limited.
They are bidding for lucrative distribution companies that offer extremely rewarding prospects among which are Eko electricity distribution company, Ikeja electricity distribution company, and Enugu electricity distribution company amongst others.
Others are Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, Benin Electricity Distribution Company, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, Jos Electricity Distribution Company Plc, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company Plc, Kano Electricity Distribution Company Plc Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company Plc, and Yola Electricity Distribution Company Plc.
Promoters of the bidding companies include former heads of states like General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Femi Otedola, Deji Adeleke (Davido’s father), Alhaji Umaru Muttalab, and Tunde Ayeni.
The Privatization council headed by Vice President Sambo is expected to unveil the shortlisted candidates later today.
