Wema Bank Appoints Independent, Non Executive Directors

The Board of Wema Bank Plc has announced the appointment of Ms. Augustina Onehimare Vukor ‘Quarshie and Mr. Adeyinka Olatokunbo Asekun to its Board.

Wema Bank, Nigeria’s longest surviving Indigenous financial institution, today announced the appointment of two new directors to its Board, Augustina Onehimare Vukor ‘Quarshie as an Independent Director and Adeyinka Olatokunbo Asekun as a non-Executive Director. This brings to 9, the number of Non-Executive Directors on the Board and reflects an indication of the bank’s continued commitment to the sustenance of good corporate governance and adequate gender representation at all levels

Through this appointment, Augustina VukorQuarshie, a former director of Platinum Bank and consummate banker with over 15years of relevant banking experience in various leadership capacities, becomes the first female director to be appointed to Wema Bank Board and signifies a remarkable step forward in bringing more diversity to the board.
Speaking on the appointments, Segun Oloketuyi, Managing Director of the Bank, further emphasized the commitment of the Bank towards ensuring diversity and adequate gender representation at all levels within the bank. He said he was confident in the two appointments by the Board as Augustina Vukor ’Quarshie and Adeyinka Asekun bring with them quality experience and expertise having distinguished themselves in various endeavors and have made significant contributions to the banking industry and the growth of the nation’s economy.

With over 15 years’ Senior and Executive management executive experience in the Banking industry, Augustina Vukor ’Quarshie is the consummate professional. Prior to her appointment, she was the Chief Executive Officer of TVQ Consulting – a training and consulting firm for Customer service excellence.

A prolific writer with publications in print covering topics from business to leadership, Augustina Vukor ’Quarshie is the recipient of various honours from renowned organisations in Nigeria and internationally.

ADEYINKA ASEKUN
Adeyinka Asekun is a retail banking expert with over two decades of experience in the FCMG and Financial Services Industry. A former Non-executive director at Oceanic Insurance and Oceanic Homes Savings and Loans, He currently is the CEO of Hebron Limited, a full-fledged management & service consulting firm.
