PHCN Deliberately Sabotages Electricity in Lagos Over Strike

Residents across various suburbs in Lagos are being denied access to electricity deliberately by PHCN officials who are claiming it is their only weapon in their war against the Federal Government.

Businessnews spoke to the Service Manager at Iwaya PHCN Service outlet and he said, “We turned off the electricity because we are on strike.”

When asked whether it was fair to drag in hapless citizens into the fight that they are having with the Federal Government. He said, “the residents should take it up with the Federal Government. This is the only weapon we have and we are going to use it. We have families to feed.”

Residents in Iwaya area have been denied their access to electricity for over 72 hours due to the strike with the Federal Government.

Gbenga Adenuga, a resident of the area, said, “Government should intervene. There was stable electricity in the area for the past couple of weeks. And now they intentionally turned off the power because of  strike. Why can’t they picket the government? Are they the only ones with families to feed?”

Another resident of the area said government should simply sack and replace all the workers in erring service stations and provide adequate security for the new staff.

Whatever the case may be, the face-off threatens to erase all the gains the Goodluck administration has recently made in the power sector.
