Nigeria Stock Exchange Watch: ASI (+0.15%) Starts Week Off on Positive Note
The All Share Index climbed 0.15% today on the back of a general increase across the major sectors.
All the NSE sub-indices closed upwards with the exception of the Oil and Gas sub-index which closed down by 0.02%.
The Banking sub-index gained 0.21% as First Bank (+0.17%), Zenith (+0.67%), and UBA (+2.33%) led the top-tiers in today’s session.
Union Bank (+4.92%) was the sub-sector’s best performer. Sterling Bank also appreciated, gaining 1.83%.
The Consumer Goods sub-index gained 0.24%. Nigerian Breweries (+0.84%) was almost up by a point. Cadbury gained 1.26% and Dangote Flour was up 4.22%. UTC Nigeria led the sector with a gain of 5%.
The Insurance sub-index gained 0.51% as Mansard Insurance picked up 4.24% in a lone performance. Custodian (-4.65%) and Wapic (-3.64%) price losses were insufficient to drag the sub-sector into decline.
The year-to-date performance of the market is 12.27%. Market Capitalization is N 7.4 trillion.
