Nigerian Breweries to Invest N 15 billion in Abia

Nigeria Breweries is set to invest N 15 billion in the construction of a new brewery and canning facility in Abia state.

The company’s Brewery Manager in Aba, Ukeje Udah, disclosed this to Governor Theodore Orji during a courtesy visit to his office.

Udah thanked the Governor for making the state one of the safest in the country and said the new facility would provide jobs for both skilled and unskilled workers in the state.

He said, “If the criminals had over taken the state most of us would have lost our jobs, thank you sir for saving our jobs.”

He also commended the Governor for the provision of infrastructure, especially in the area of road construction, ““those of us, who live and operate in that commercial city know what your government has been doing, since we work and live in that place,” he said.

He also disclosed corporate social responsibility initiatives that the bank had taken up including the construction of a six-block classroom and library facility built in Obingwa Local Government area.

In his response, the Governor thanked the company for their contributions to the State and hinted the company to consider acquiring Golden Guinea Breweries, a distressed company in the state.

His words: “We have the moribund Golden Guinea brewery in Umuahia, You can start brewing your famous Heineken beer there, what we want is a group that will reactivate it.”
