Presidency moves to reinstate Oteh back into SEC DG position

The Presidency has made not so subtle moves in the push to reinstate Aruma Oteh back into the SEC Director General (DG) position.

Aruma Oteh was allowed to attend the Economic Management Team (EMT) meeting in Abuja yesterday and she calmly sat in the seat reserved for the Director General of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Sources confirm Ms. Oteh also referred with President Jonathan and the Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy and Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

There were no objections to her presence by the Presidency despite the fact that there is an Acting DG of SEC in the person of Bolaji Bello.

Also the Pricewaterhouse Coopers investigation into the allegations of corruption against Ms. Oteh have yet to be transmitted to the Presidency.

President Jonathan, over the weekend, reiterated his stance on anti-corruption and vowed there would be no sacred cows in the fight against corruption against senior public officials.

A survey shows Nigerians are not convinced with the President’s rhetoric, especially since several senior public officials have allegations of corruption hanging against them, including even the President himself.
