Nigeria Stock Exchange: ASI (+1.06%) Records Biggest Gain in a Week
The Nigerian Stock Exchange closed well in the green as the All Share Index recorded the biggest gain since June 20th, appreciating by 1.06%.
The performance was driven by the price gains recorded in blue chips like Dangote Cement (+1.85%), Guinness (+3.64%), and Nigerian Breweries (+1.12%).
The banking sub-index shed 0.25% even as the winners and losers were evenly split. Virtually al the top tier banks were in the red with the exception of Zenith (+0.36%) which recorded a marginal gain. Sterling (+4.63%) and Union (+4.92%) recorded an impressive performance.
The Food and Beverages sector saw Nestle (+5%) close limit up. Cadbury (+2.12%) also closed in the green. On the flip side Dangote Flour (-1.74%) shed points.
The Insurance sub-index shed 0.28%. Wapic (+5%) bucked the trend as it closed limit up. GTAssure (+3.01%) also recorded a positive price appreciation. Closing in the red were Continental Re (-4%), Goldlink (-3.57%) and Custodian (-1.91%).
Over 188 million shares valued at N 1.3 billion traded today.
