Halliburton Scandal: Government Demands $130 Million the Bribe Facilitator Diverted

Jeffery Tesler is cooling his heels in a jail cell in the United States of America, however his legacy of bribery and corruption facilitation lives on in the free society.

The British lawyer who was jailed 21 months earlier this year for his role in the Halliburton bribe scandal involving senior Nigerian  government officials was apparently more corrupt than the lootocrats he was supposed to service.

Out of a $180 million in bribes that were supposed to find their way into the private pockets of Nigerian bureaucats, the Brit diverted the colossal sum of $133 million into his own personal account in Zurich. Now the Nigerian government wants that money back, or at least some of it.

The minister of Justice, Bello Adoke (SAN) is said to have begun negotiations with the American government in order to have a slice of the $133 million discovered in Tesler’s account. However it is not clear what steps Adoke is taking in order to bring the corrupt Nigerian officials who shared the difference between the bribe Tesler paid and the amount he embezzled.

It is believed Tesler paid bribes of about $25 million to Nigerian officials.

Government officials in the know of Nigeria’s negotiations on the recovery state that the US government ay likely refund halfo of the money to Nigeria, about $65 million.

Halliburton is a major US corporation with significant interests in Energy and with close ties to former US Vice President, Dick Cheney.
