Nigeria Stock Exchange Watch: Bourse Rebounds from Yesterday, Gains 0.29%

The bourse rallied in today’s session, with a marginal gain of 0.29% as the All Share Index closed at 21,067.90.

The banking sub-sector saw reversal in the fortunes of First Bank (+4.91%) as the stock reversed on yesterday’s losses. FCMB matched the most capitalized bank with a gain of +4.91% as well. Fidelity Bank (+3.45%) was also up in the day’s session, UBA (+2.23%), and Wema (+2%) did not lag too far behind.

On the flip side, Access (-3.58%), Stanbic (-4.02%), Sterling (-4.65%), Union (-4.94%) and Diamond (-0.79%) all sustained various losses in the day’s session.

The infrastructure sector was led by gains in Ashaka (+4.46%), Paints & Coatings (+4%) and CCNN (+2.22%).

The consumer goods sector was led by Unileve (+4.91%), UAC (+3.82%) and Honeywell (+2.38%).

The Insurance sub-sector  saw Custodian (+3.25%), and GTAssure (+0.82%) record gains. Prestige (-4.69%) and Continental Reinsurance (-4.17%) saw losses on the flip.

The Oil and Gas sector was led by forte Oil (+4.76%) even as all other counters remained silent.

Over 195 million shares (down 12% from yesterday), valued at N 1.59 billion (down 3.6% from yesterday) exchanged hands amongst investors.
