Schneider Electric Awarded N 6 Billion Contract to Improve Electricity in Rivers State

The Rivers State Government has entered into an agreement with Schneider Electric to boost electricity supply in the oil-rich state.

Schneider is a global specialist in energy management and under the terms of this contract with a deadline implementation date of June 30^th, 2012, the company is expected to design, manufacture and supply 28 units of 15 MVA 33/11 KV injection substations for the state.

The contract valued at N 6 billion also provides for Schneider’s on-site and overseas training of Rivers indigenes as technical staff as they will phase out the foreign staff in Schneider’s employ as the operators and maintenance staff of the project.

Rivers State Commissioner of Power, Augustine Wokocha, stated that the project was part of the River’s State government’s commitment to meet the electricity requirements of the people.

Country President, Schneider Electric, Marcel Hochet, assured the Rivers State government that the company will leave no stone unturned in the execution of the project.
