Revoke BiCourtney’s Concession Nigerians Tell Government as Robbers Lay Siege to Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

According to a Businessnews poll, over 57% of Nigerians believe that the Federal Government should revoke the concession awarded to Bicourtney for the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

After several years of being awarded the contract, many Nigerians are of the opinion that Bi-courtney does not have the financial and/or technical capacity to handle the project due to the non-transformation of the key highway.

Soji Bello, a commuter who plies the road on a daily basis due to business and other obligations lamented to our correspondent on the plight motorists face including crater sized potholes, and mind-boggling traffic.

Add to the list of complaints, the new plague of armed robbery. According to Mr. Bello, “ever since the IG said the police should leave, robbers have been attacking on the road, almost every day you hear new stories. People are now afraid for their lives, but there is no other option.”

Andrew Fill, British national who is a construction consultant with a multi-national headquartered in South Africa, says the reason we have bad roads in Nigeria is because our government officials and top business leaders hardly have  anyneed to pass the roads due to their ownership of private jets, and helicopters.

Last weekend, armed robbers dressed in police uniforms stormed the Lagos-Ibadan expressway for several days consecutively according to some reports. They carted away millions of Naira worth of valuables, even dispossessing the Editor-in-Chief of Vanguard Newspapers, Gbenga Adefaye, of his mobile phone and other equipment.

   THESE ROBBERS MIGHT BE POLICE OFFICER TRYING TO SCARE NIGERIANS SO THAT THEY GO BACK TO THE SAME BRIBE COLLECTIONS ON ROAD.

   My fellow Nigerians, It’s high-time we educate ourselves about the usage of words. The Lagos/Ibadan expressway is a Concession not a contract. Nigerian journalist should try to educate people about the usage and meaning of some words.

   Now,what armed-robbery incident has to do with the road construction? The issue here has to do with security. Is Bi-Courtney a security out-fit?
   Is road concession allowed or give ways to Armed robbery? The writer of this article or whatever you can call it should find something else to do instead of wasting people’s time on unnecessary story.

   in my own view , the writer of this piece didn’t go to school bcos he sounds like a village idot. If i might ask what is the correlation between the robbery incindent and the concessionair ? Why playing politic with such a  cogent issue ?

   Perpetuating discord I am driver and i do use the road six times a week for delivery of goods to my costumers in Lagos. The potholes had been reduced to the barest minimum and the traffic situation on the road is far better now comparing to what it used to be. I understand the rout far better than you do. The concessionaire had nothing to do with the robbery which is a national security issue.
   On a final note, learn how to write a balance report and get your facts accurately before your embark on writing.

    AIG should kindly find a lasting solution to this escating security issue now , and i hope the politicians won’t take advantage of this situation for selfish interest like the Boko Haram. Besides, this is a security matter , babalakin and his antagonists (Amosun & co ) should note !
