Nigerian Stock Exchange: ASI Gains 0.26%, UBA up 26% since Feb 14th

The Nigerian Stock Exchange gained 26 points as the All Share Index closed at 20,492.31 after today’s session.

The banking sub-sector continued its bullish trajectory as UBA (+4.55%) continued its upward trend, recording gains in excess of 26% since February 14th.

Other gainers in the banking space were First Bank (4.03%), Skye (+3.88%), FCMB (+2.47%), Sterling (+1.04%). Companies with marginal uptick included top-tier Zenith (+0.65%), Fidelity (+0.74%) and Stanbic (+0.14%).

GTBank shed marginal points, dropping by -0.14%, Access was also down 2.16%.

Conglomerates UACN (+1.45%), PZ (+2.87%) and Unilever (+1.27%) were all up in today’s session. Food companies, Honeywell (-4.9%), Flour Mills (-5%) and Cadbury (-2.91%) all moved in the opposite direction.

Dangote subsidiaries on the other hand were up, NASCON (+4.93%), Dangote Sugar (+0.55%), and Dangote Flour (+0.71%).

Across the Insurance sub-sector, Goldlink (-5%), Custodian (-4.46%) and Prestige (-4.11%) were on the decline. GTAssur (+4.24%) and Continental Reinsurance (+4.05%) recorded significant price increase.

The volume of shares traded today (301 million) and value (N 1.87 Billion) recorded decline of 16% and 31% respectively.
