By on February 14, 2012

MTN has advised its data subscribers to register the SIM in their devices in order to received uninterrupted services. Apparently the directive from the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) that all devices must be registered does not apply to voice subscribers alone.

Mr. Wale Goodluck, Corporate Services Director at MTN stated on Monday, “Even though the vast majority of MTN subscribers have since complied with the directive to register their SIMs, it is important for those buying new SIMs to also register them.

“We would like to again remind our subscribers that the registration directive covers all SIMs, from those in mobile phones to those inserted in Fastlink Internet dongles, iPads, laptops, Point of Sale terminals, Automatic Teller Machines as well as those embedded in car-tracking devices, among others.”

The NCC is currently uploading SIM registration information into their servers in Abuja, an exercise which will soon be completed. After which a harmonization and verification exercise will commence.

Subscribers who fail to register will experience interruption in their service.
