BPP resolves to Stamp out Corruption with Technology in 100% Budget Implementation Regime

The Director General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Mr. Emeka Eze has made known the resolve of his agency to stop corrupt practices in the civil service.

During a retreat in Calabar with on public procurement for senior civil servants, the DG, BPP stated that technology would be used to checkmate the rising tide of corruption in the civil service.

“We are bringing innovation, technology and accountability and transparency in the implementation and expenditure of public funds to tell people that you may be there today, it is not because you are the most intelligent, but because God has given you the opportunity to serve and therefore you must spend that money in a manner that is consistent with national interest”, he said.

The DG also made known that the retreat was necessitated by the need to ensure 100% implementation of the budget as requested by President Jonathan.

Also speaking at the event, the Head of Service of the Federation, Alhaji Isa Sali, stated that the government would not compromise on full implementation of the budget.

However the HOS implicated lapses in contract management, funding constraints and late approval of budget as some of the challenges facing budget implementation in the country.
