Nigerian Stock Exchange Watch: Market YTD Performance 0.44%

The Nigerian bourse recovered from its losses yesterday as the ASI closed up marginally by 0.15% settling at 20,822.0.

Diamond Bank continues to lead the YTD performance of the banking sub sector as the stock gained an additional 3.57% in today’s session. FCMB led the sub sector pulling up a 5% appreciation today, GTBank (+1%) and Zenith (1.33%) also performed fairly well.
Access Bank (+3.24%), Skye (+0.86%) and FBN (+0.48%) also closed in the green.

UBA reversed on its fortunes from yesterday closing down a bit marginally (-0.50%), even as Stanbic (-2.05%) and sterling (-3.3%) were also on the decline.

Across the consumer goods sector, Guinness (-2.22%) and Nigerian Breweries (-0.71%) tanked. International Breweries on the flip side recorded an impressive gain of 4.64%, Nestle (+2.33%) was also on the up and up. However the sector closed in the red, falling by 0.21%.

Oando continues to demonstrate a negative performance falling by 4.57% in today’s trading as the Oil and Gas Index fell by 0.97%. Investors are hoping the fortunes turn tomorrow.
