Nigerian Stock Exchange: All Share Index Breaks through 21,000 Levels

The Nigerian Stock Exchange resumed the first day of the strike with a significant gain as the All Share Index appreciated 1.19%.

Te Index closed at 21,072.27 and was buoyed by the performance of blue chips like Nigerian Breweries, Julius Berger and PZ Cussons.

Also a large block trade of Diamond Bank saw the price of the banking stock surge 4.9%. The stock also led the activity charts, as over 93.6 million shares.

Activity in the market was led primarily by the banking sector, although a break in the trend came in the form of a large block trade from Continental Reinsurance.

 

Over 244 million shares valued at N 1.5 billion exchanged hands amongst investors today.
