Julius Berger To Launch Healthcare Company Early 2012

By on December 12, 2011

Julius Berger Plc, Nigeria’s largest construction company, notified the Nigerian stock exchange today of its establishment of two subsidiaries.

The first being PrimeTech Design & Engineering Nigeria Limited for the provisions of design and engineering support services to the Company.

The second subsidiary is Julius Berger Medical Services Limited (JBMSL). According to the release on the NSE, JBMSL is to carry on business as a Health Care Provider for the operation of medical service centres, hospitals and all forms of medical and health care services, which is a crucial support in the operations of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.

JBMSL would be licensed under the National Health Insurance Scheme Act CAP N42 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and would commence operation in the first quarter of the year 2012.

Julius Berger already provides medical services to 18,000 of its employees. Undoubtedly the company must have increased its competency in health care delivery to its personnel and seeks to broaden its scope.

Businessnews speculates that the company is seeking to monetize the services it already offers its employees free of charge, by extending these services to the general population.
