Private Refineries, Where are the refined products?

Sometimes I just can’t understand why the refineries, government-owned wouldn’t work? From the days of long queues to these days of fuel subsidy removal threat, the private refineries are just stuck with a worthless license. For whatever their reasons, the acquired licenses, including the partying that followed as they were handed these licenses, it just didn’t worked out. We still face the threat of fuel scarcity.

How these private refineries did came to final conclusions to set up a refinery? Is it that all of a sudden the figures didn’t add up? Is a sudden market fright that send them jittery and fearing a possible market blackout at their entrance? The guys who advised on these ventures would no doubt be one of the best around but what went wrong? Why would this ambitious project lose steam when i had thought finally the market would settle our perennial fuel scarcity? Could the market be wrong?

I heard Orient Petroleum will be coming on stream by 2012. But what about others? Now the house of reps has intervened on behalf of the market. A few days ago, the rep committee on petroleum, downstream was asked to critically examine the delays that have plagued the takeoff of our private refineries.

If I could remember well these private refineries and the owners were expected to conclude construction within two years with refining starting off by four years. But all might just not see the light of the day as much as they nothing cheering is coming from any of them, we just siddon they wait.

There is so much to be unraveled. We can’t wait to see the outcome of the house of reps investigation maybe from there we could begin the corrections or so it seems for now.
