MultiChoice Nigeria Appoints John Ugbe as Managing Director

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the appointment of Mr John Ugbe as Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria effective from November this year.

This appointment, according to a statement, marks the first Nigerian executive to be appointed to this senior position.

Chairman of MultiChoice Nigeria Adewunmi Ogunsanya said: “We believe that John is an experienced executive, who will be able to lead the company into a new period of growth and expansion.As technology evolves, the traditional pay television modelis changing and the industry isbecoming more complex.

“Just over 15 years ago we set out to deliver the best home television entertainment in Nigeria – our mission now is to deliver the best digital entertainment and information any time, on any platform and anywhere in Nigeria. Hence, we are delighted to have a candidate who has a solid understanding of technology as well as operations who will take MultiChoice Nigeria into the future.”

Acording to the statement, John joins MultiChoice from iWay Africa Nigeria with a wealth of experience and proven leadership skills in a number of different functional areas, he is also not newto the MultiChoice business having originally joined MultiChoice in 1998 as the IT manager.
