Nigerian Stock Market Gains in 5th consecutive Day of Trading

The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index went northwards by 0.58% at the end of trading today to close at 20,695.77.

Driving the performance of the bourse today were the Breweries and Food & Beverage sectors led by Nigerian Breweries (+4.92%) and Cadbury (+5%)  respectively. Other gainers were Ashaka cement (+5%), Oando (+4.98%), and CAP (+4.96%).

The Petroleum Marketing and the Banking sectors put on a bearish performance today shedding (-0.15%) and (-0.06%) respectively. Mobil shed the maximum points and was down by 5%, other top losers on the bourse today were Okomu Oil (-4.95%), Access Bank (-4-91%) and Zenith Bank (-4.05%).

The number of gainers today fell by 12 whilst the number of losers were up by 5.

The value of stocks traded today depreciated by 11% and the volume was down by 21.31%, although the value of banking stocks traded on the NSE were up by 26.11% .

The Year-to-date performance of the bourse is now -16.45%.
