By on September 26, 2011

Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) has commissioned Bowen Microfinance Bank Limited.

Speaking at the formal opening in Obanikoro, Lagos, the Managing Director of the bank, Mrs. Adebimpe Ogunleye, disclosed that although the poor will always be in the society, the Baptist faith is determined to assist them economically.

She said the bank would add value to the society by empowering people, lifting the standard of living and developing a mutually beneficial relationship with customers.

“It is a matter of responsibility that we use the tools that God has given us to help raise the standard of living of everyone in our nation. We shall advise, guide, mentor our customers and also monitor their activities to ensure judicious application of the facilities extended to them,” she explained.

The Chairperson of the bank, Mrs. Abiola Otaniyi, disclosed that the bank would not be depending on the money raised from the public, assuring that adequate capital was available to run it. She added that Bowen is unique as interest charges would be low.

She stressed that many people have skills and only need little money to operate something worthwhile but putting funds together is always a major challenge. She assured that such people would be rendered financial and technical assistance.
