Transcorp Announces New Board Appointments

Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp) announced a number of board changes to strengthen its governance following the appointment of Tony O. Elumelu, MFR, as Chairman at the Group’s annual general meeting held in Abuja last week.

Moving forward from a board meeting held yesterday, the following appointments were confirmed:

Mr. Manz Denga, as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp; Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, OON, as Director of Transcorp and Chairman of Transnational Hotels and Tourism Services Limited (owner of Transcorp Hilton Abuja), and Transcorp Metropolitan, Calabar; Dr. Stanley I. Lawson, as Director of Transcorp and Chairman of Transcorp Energy Limited; Mrs. Angela Nwabuoku, as Director of Transcorp and Chairman of Teragro Limited; Mr. Obinna Ufudo, as Director of Transcorp and Transcorp Energy Limited

Mr. Manz Denga, Group Chief Executive Officer brings over two decades of executive experience, working in various capacities within leading financial services institutions across Africa. Prior to his appointment with the Group, he was the Chief Executive Officer of UBA Kenya. He also previously served in non-executive and advisory capacities on high-level committees and boards, including the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja Board.

Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, OON, currently serves as Vice Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Standard Alliance Insurance Plc. He also serves as Chairman of Synetics Technologies Limited, a provider of tailored technology asset management solutions, and Heroes Group, a major manufacturer of furnishings.

Dr. Stanley I. Lawson, a widely respected expert with multi-disciplinary professional experience spanning three decades in the energy and financial sectors. He is Managing Partner of Financial Advisory and Investment Consultants, an oil & gas-sector focused financial advisory services firm.

In December 2004, Dr. Lawson was appointed as Group Executive Director of Finance and Accounts at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with core responsibilities for oversight of funding, budgeting and cash flow planning.
Mrs. Angela Nwabuoku is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in the financial services sector garnered across several countries in the West African region. She became an international associate of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 1985. She currently serves as a Non-Executive Director of UBA and is the Chairman of UBA Metlife.

Mr. Obinna Ufudo is a financial industry veteran who has held senior level positions in trading, investment management and advisory capacities. As Chief Operating Officer of the Heirs Holdings Group, he optimizes day-to-day operations of the Group and supervises it various subsidiaries. He is also Chairman of Afri-Pay Limited, the parent company of U-Mo – a CBN licensed mobile payment solutions provider.

Other distinguished individuals appointed to the Group’s board of directors are Ms.Yinka Ogunsilire for Transcorp Metropolitan, Mr. Gogo Kurobo for Transcorp Hilton, Mr. Tony Chukwueke for Transcorp Energy Limited and Mr. Datti Abbey Hart for Teragro Limited.
