THE KIRKE PROJECT BEGINS A NEW MEDIA MAKEOVER FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

By on September 19, 2011

LAGOS, Nigeria (September 19, 2011) – Selected small businesses have been given a reprieve on ways to build and maintain their online presence as well as how to engage their current and potential customers through social media. The Kirke Project is helping 5 businesses in food delivery, specialty food packaging, bespoke gift servicing, cleaning services, and fashion designing to create winning online brands.

The Kirke Project is a new media make-over project for Start-Ups as well as Small and Medium scale enterprises (SMEs). The aim of the project is to show how important it is for start-ups to embed new media in their daily operations while building awareness for their brands.

Ahmed Adeyanju, Chief of Communications at The Kirke Project remarked that “the premise of this social media makeover is the realisation that successful marketing today is a 360 degree integration of traditional business promotion techniques harnessing the advantages of new media.”

“We realised that we could add some extra boost to some small businesses by giving them access to web 2.0 tools to maximize visibility at the early stage of their business’ growth, stated Kayode Nubi, the Project Manager.

The businesses selected for this pilot phase of The Kirke Project are Bellurie, Garri Ijebu, Platnum Clothing, 15th Avenue, E-Magic Cleaners and Courage Designs and Events. The project has already begun to gather support as showed by its recent winning of a $200 dollar Ad Token by AdPlacers.com.

The Kirke Project is a not-for-profit outreach organised by a team of new media enthusiasts and aided by the digital marketing expertise of Simon & Noble– leading New Media Company with brand and media advisory from RED Media.  External observers for the project include UN Ambassador for ICT4D & Executive Director at Paradigm Initiative Nigeria – Gbenga Sesan as well as Jesse Oguntimeyin, who was brought on as a performance tracking consultant. TCD Photography are also partners for the project.

“We are looking to bringing more participants – start-ups and SMEs – on board as we build momentum” said Nubi.  Activities of the project can be followed online from their website – TheKirkePoject.org  and regular updates from the Facebook and Twitter pages.
