By on August 27, 2011

United States federal government is taking serious interest in investing in the Nigeria’s energy sector, U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria Terence McCulley said.

McCulley, however, urged the Nigerian government to address widespread corruption in the country’s energy sector. McCulley met with Nigeria’s Minister of Power Bart Nnaji to discuss the opportunities in the country’s energy sector.

According to McCulley, U.S. sees Nigerias as a strategic partner and is serious in making investment in the country’s power sector.

Responding to McCulley for U.S. concerns over corruption in the country’s energy sector, Nnaji said that the Nigerian government has developed a power sector reform roadmap, to deal with the corruption issues.
