Aganga, Fashola for CIBN, NES forum on national budget

Dr. Olusegun Aganga, Minister of Finance and Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, Governor of Lagos State, are among top level dignitaries from the public and private sectors of the economy that will participate at a special forum on 2011 National Budget Review. The forum is put together by the Nigerian Economic Society (NES) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) to address critical issues in the budget for sus-tainable economic growth and develop-ment. The forum tagged: “One-Day National Policy Seminar on 2011 Federal Government Budget” is free for all cadres of participants and it is scheduled for Thursday this week The two bodies have assembled experienced and distinguished economists, academics and financial analysts to deliberate on various sub-themes. The key speakers include, Prof. Akpan Ekpo, Director-General, WAIFEM; Dr. Bright Okogu, Director General, Budget Office, Federal Ministry of Finance; Prof. Peter C. Egbon, Professor of Economics, Delta State University; Prof. A. G. Garba, Professor of Economics, Ahmadu Bello Univeristy, Zaria and Mr. Ezekiel Idowu, Assistant Director, Research Department, Central Bank of Nigeria. The participants are expected to discuss other critical sub-themes such as “Policy Framework, Expected Targets and Budget Performance/Challenges and Prospects for 2011”; “Policy Framework of 2011 Federal Budget Allocation and Expected Outcome”; Deficit Financing and Potential Impacts on Prices, Output and Employ-ment; Macroeconomic Framework and Policy Consistency: Monetary and Fiscal Policy, among others. Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi, OFR, former Minister of National Planning Commission and Professor Gini I. Mbanefo, former Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, would chair the sessions. Dr. K. S. Adeyemi, President, Nigeria Economic Society, will present the welcome address while Mr. Laoye Jaiyeola, FCIB, President/Chairman of Council, CIBN will give the opening remarks.
