The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has awarded contracts valued at about N10 billion for road construction in the six area councils in the FCT.  Minister of FCT, Senator Bala Mohammed, disclosed this while addressing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful at a rally in Kuje town. Mohammed said he was deeply moved to action when he came to FCT and found that the few existing roads in the satellite towns were in deplorable conditions while construction of new roads was highly needed to open up the areas.

The defectors numbering 109 comprised ANPP local officials and were led by the Chairman of the party (ANPP) in Gwagwalada, Alhaji Sambo. A list containing their names and contacts was handed over to the Minister by Sambo.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the defectors, Sambo said they decided to cross over from ANPP not just because of the President alone but also because of the FCT Minister and a former Chairman of Kuje Area Council, Senator Usman Jibrin Wowo both of whom defected from ANPP to the PDP last year.
