NEXIM to join Commonwealth Lawyers Association to promote trade

THE Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) on Friday in Abuja expressed its readiness to partner with the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA) to promote trade.

The bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Roberts Orya said in a statement issued by Mr. Chinedu Moughalu, the head of Corporate Communications, expressed the willingness when the association’s executives paid him a courtesy visit.

Orya said the partnership would help the bank to support its clients with the desired export credit and insurance of guarantee facilities.

He added that it would also help to promote export-import trade between Nigeria and other African countries.

“The main focus for NEXIM-CLA collaboration will be to attract the goodwill of key financial power houses and other specialised institutions within the Commonwealth region, whose mandates and operations intertwine with those of NEXIM.

“It will also seek guidance to better provide NEXIM’s clients with value-added business advisory services, especially in relation to international business transactions,’’ the statement said.

It stated that the collaboration would explore how to attract and tap the wealth of contacts available with other affiliated law firms in Nigeria and abroad.

It quoted Orya as appealing to the president of CLA to use her good offices in assisting the bank to reach out to other professional bodies in facilitating the business of NEXIM locally and internationally.

Mrs Boma Ozobia, the CLA president, gave assurance that the association would explore areas of alliance with the bank. She pledged the support of the association in any area that would help the bank to succeed.
