Nigerian Stock Exchange Watch: ASI (+1.37) Crosses 30,000 Psychological Benchmark

The NSE’s All Share Index gained 137 basis points in today’s trading to close above the 30,000 psychological benchmark at 30,093.83.

The banking sector suffered from the activities of profit takers today, but was still predominantly bullish as 9 vs 4 participants recorded gains.

Diamond Bank (+3.03%) continues its freakish-like price surge, the stock which was the best performer in the banking sector last year with gains exceeding 150%, continues to surge in 2013.

Stanbic (+4.96%) was the best performer in the sub-sector, Sterling (+3.35%) also put on respectable weight.

Skye (-4.07%), FCMB (-0.2%), GTBank (-1.76%), and Union (-0.38%) were in the red.

Leading the market were UAC (+10%) and UPDC (+10%).

Dangote Cement (+3.21%), CCNN (+4.89%), and Ashaka (+3%) also performed very well.

The market capitalization of the bourse stands at $61.11 billion.
